³⁷ Because he loved^(A) your ancestors and chose their descendants after them, he brought you out of Egypt by his Presence and his great strength,^(B)

⁷ The Lord did not set his affection on you and choose you because you were more numerous^(A) than other peoples, for you were the fewest^(B) of all peoples.^(C)

⁸ But it was because the Lord loved^(A) you and kept the oath he swore^(B) to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand^(C) and redeemed^(D) you from the land of slavery,^(E) from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹³ He will love you and bless you^(A) and increase your numbers.^(B) He will bless the fruit of your womb,^(C) the crops of your land—your grain, new wine^(D) and olive oil^(E)—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.^(F)

²⁹ But they are your people,^(A) your inheritance^(B) that you brought out by your great power and your outstretched arm.^(C)”

¹⁵ Yet the Lord set his affection on your ancestors and loved^(A) them, and he chose you,^(B) their descendants, above all the nations—as it is today.^(C)

¹⁸ He defends the cause of the fatherless and the widow,^(A) and loves the foreigner residing among you, giving them food and clothing.^(B)

⁵ However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse^(A) into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves^(B) you.
